THE VIA FERRATA PROGRAM
WITH THE BEAUX-ARTS DE PARIS

Following in the footsteps of its founder, Hubert de Givenchy, the Maison supports and promotes projects in favor of young minds, in particular those which offer new perspectives and trajectories.

Givenchy Parfums supports the Beaux-Arts de Paris through the Via Ferrata preparatory class, which enables talented young people to prepare for art school competitions, offering individualized support and quality facilities for students from socially, culturally and geographically diverse backgrounds.

The support of the Maison Givenchy has made it possible to double the number of students in the preparatory class since September 2021.

THE GIVENCHY OLFACTORY WORKSHOP

"CAN WE GIVE A FORM TO WHAT, IN ESSENCE, HAS NO FORM?"

This is the seemingly paradoxical question that VIA FERRATA students had to try to answer during an olfactory workshop organised jointly with the Givenchy teams.

Led by Julie Genelin and Laurent Lacotte, artists and teachers at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, this workshop invited the students to discover works and artists who use smell as a material for creation, and to work for a week on the elaboration of a production based on one of the Maison’s iconic fragrances: L'Interdit Eau de Parfum.

Several personalities worked with the students: Master Perfumer Dominique Ropion, who created L'Interdit de Givenchy, and Sandra Barré, a visual artist and author of L'odeur de l'art - un panorama de l'art olfactif olfactif [The smell of art - an overview of olfactory art], published in 2021.

This workshop was part of the partnership that Givenchy Parfums has signed with the preparatory class of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, which each year allows 50 young talents to prepare for the most important art school competitive examination free of charge.

To mark the end of the year spent in the Via Ferrata preparatory class, the 50 students in the class of 2022/2023 were invited to exhibit their work at a preview in the Via Ferrata's two Paris workshops. Installations, paintings, photos, sculptures, drawings and videos showcased the rich and varied output produced by the students this year. The exhibition, open to the public, allowed these young creative talents to showcase their work and share their experiences at the Via Ferrata.

The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the results of the entrance examinations:
98% of the students will go on to a top art school, including some highly selective ones such as the HEAR (Haute École des Arts du Rhin) in Strasbourg, the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, the Beaux-Arts de Lyon, and the Villa Arson in Nice. In addition, fourteen of them will join the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in September 2023.
These are great achievements and represent a bright future ahead for these young creative talents, that Givenchy Parfums is proud to support as part of its commitment to young people.

Since 2021, Givenchy Parfums has been the partner of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and its Via Ferrata preparatory class, which helps students gain admission to the best art schools.
This year, 50 students were selected from among more than 460 applicants. These young talents come from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, from various regions of France, and some even hail from abroad.

The program aims to prepare them for the competitive examinations of major art schools. To achieve this, students will benefit from theoretical courses, creative workshops, and artistic reflections in the workshops located at both school sites (Paris/Saint-Ouen). Throughout the year, cultural visits to museums, galleries, art centers, artists' studios, and production sites will be organized to expose students to a variety of artistic disciplines.
Students will also have access to the resources of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts including the library, lectures, exhibitions, and the digital center.
This program is rich in encounters and teaching, and we hope it will enable students to gain admission to the schools they aspire to attend at the end of 2024.
